Natural Fertility Treatments for Women

While medical treatments are definitely a popular option for women experiencing infertility issues, there are alternatives in the form of natural fertility treatments. These treatments can be very effective in increasing one’s ability to produce a child and require no invasive procedures. Most natural fertility treatments are based on the idea that an improvement in the body’s physical health will provide a stable environment in which a child can be conceived, thus increasing one’s chances of becoming pregnant. We are going to take a closer look at a few of the most popular natural treatments.

Vitamin Supplements

The female body has an uncanny way of protecting itself. For some women, this goes past the extent of regular functionality and crosses the border into self-preservation. When a woman’s body is severely deficient in vitamins and/or minerals, it can actually prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg. As most of us know, pregnancy has quite an effect on a woman’s body by lending calcium and other vital nutrients to the developing child. When the body purposely prevents pregnancy from occurring, it is the natural way of preserving itself when there is already a major deficiency in health.

Deficiencies come in a number of different conditions. Finding a balance among vitamins and minerals within the body is the key element of treating fertility issues with vitamin supplements. Vitamins A, C, and E are powerful antioxidants which provide a key role in strengthening the immune system. Someone who suffers from a weak immune system could become sick so often that the body simply won’t allow itself to become pregnant. These same vitamins are also good for boosting the health of the reproductive organs. Calcium, magnesium, and folic acid are other nutrients that are extremely vital to women’s health, yet most women do not get enough of them on a daily basis.

Diet and Exercise

This type of treatment falls into the same category as the vitamin supplements. A body that is far too unhealthy to the point that it struggles to function properly is more likely to shut down any chances of reproducing until the situation within improves. Being overweight or failing to take in proper nutrients through one’s diet can not only make it difficult to conceive, but it could also result in a miscarriage. When trying to get pregnant, and indeed throughout the pregnancy, it is important for a woman to take in good qualities of nutrients. Instead of eating a chicken sandwich made from a processed frozen chicken patty, one could opt for grilling or roasting a boneless, skinless chicken breast. The nutrients that the body can absorb from a chicken breast are far superior to what comes from frozen processed meat. Fresh fruit and vegetables should be chosen over the canned variety and one should endeavor to eat more green, leafy vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, collard greens, and spinach.

Exercise is just as important as one’s diet. Although a healthy diet will set the body’s nutritional stores on the right track, exercise is the element necessary to strengthen the body’s muscles and tissues in preparation for a pregnancy. The stronger a woman’s muscles are, the more likely she is to not only conceive but to have more stamina and endurance throughout labor.

Stress Relief

Stress levels are unfortunately something that many people tend to overlook when dealing with a health issue. Stress can have a huge impact not only on one’s quality of life, but also the way that their body functions. Although doctors haven’t yet pin-pointed the exact connection between stress and fertility, there is definitely a true link between the two. Women who are over-stressed often feel fatigue, anxiety, have trouble eating or eat too much, and experience trouble sleeping. These are just a few of the symptoms that stress can produce. Does a jittery, nutritionally deprived, rest-starved body sound like the optimum environment for a fetus to form in? Definitely not—and nature knows this.

Stress relief is one of the forms of natural fertility treatments that often takes much longer than others and requires a great deal of dedication. Because there are many uncontrollable factors in our lives that contribute to stress, such as finances, health problems, and personal issues, it isn’t always easy to simply be happy or to ignore the issues which cause stress. Meditation, yoga, or pilates are great activities that help not only to clear one’s mind but also to engage the body in positive stimulation which encourages the release of endorphins (the “happy” chemical). Almost any form of exercise can serve as a way to relieve stress, as can writing in a journal. This may sound simple, but it enables one to blow off excess steam that would normally build up and lead to excessive stress.
