A Helpful Guide to Fertility Massage

For the millions of women struggling with conception, fertility massage may prove to be a beneficial ally. If you too are having infertility problems or would like an added boost to your conception efforts, consider trying fertility massage. Read further for more information on the benefits and at home techniques of this natural therapy.

Benefits

There are several reasons to opt for this natural approach to fertility therapy. Many traditional techniques include hormone injections and in-vitro fertilization. While these are sometimes necessary, less drastic steps can be taken in some cases. Sometimes scar tissue, obstructions in the fallopian tubes, anxiety, or an overabundance of toxins in the system are to blame. Massage can help with all of these and can be used in conjunction with other techniques as well for more extreme cases.

Additionally, fertility massage also helps the overall wellbeing of your body by promoting a balance of hormones, assisting your body in the removal of ovarian cysts, improving ovarian function, repositioning a tilted uterus, and promoting healthy circulation throughout your reproductive organs.

How to Find a Massage Therapist

If you decide to give this therapy a try, it is highly recommended that you locate a licensed massage therapist that specializes in fertility issues. If you do not live near a specialist you can opt for a licensed therapist that has some experience in this field as well. There are many holistic healing and massage therapy sites online that will direct you to therapists across the country. Many times, you will often find customer and client reviews as well. If you already go to a salon or spa with massage therapists, speak to a manager and see if they have any connections to a specialist.

If you do not live near any fertility specialists, you can still do fertility self-massage. In some ways, this can be more beneficial because you become intimately involved with your healing and treatment, which can promote wellbeing in your mind as well. In addition to this, you can find many areas of your abdomen with tension that a practitioner may not be able to detect. Lastly, performing the massage yourself can help you face fears and take charge of your treatment.

Self Massage

Before attempting self massage it is important to keep in mind that this massage should only be performed after menstruation and before ovulation. Do not do this massage if you are in menses or already pregnant. Before beginning, make sure you have no urine in your bladder. This massage should take around 15 minutes to complete, but try not to exceed 20. Additionally, if you experience discomfort or pain, stop immediately.

1. Heat is an important healing element, so warm your hands before you begin and apply a soothing oil such as olive or almond.

2. Find your uterus (located between your navel and pubic bone) and begin to apply light pressure along the top edge with the pads of your fingers.

3. Always going in a clockwise motion, find any areas of your pelvic region that feel tight by using moderate to deep pressure. Make your way gradually across and all over your lower abdominal regions. Massage these areas rhythmically, and again, always in a clockwise direction.

4. Relaxation is key during massage. Many women find it beneficial to visualize a healing white light or energy entering their ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes. Some women have to systematically relax their muscles, starting with their toes and mentally working their way up. Relaxing your jaw is also effective in releasing tension locked away in your pelvis. Pay special attention to any areas that feel tense.

5. Finish your massage by pressing gently up and down on your pelvic area. This up and down motion should be used for approximately 20 counts. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth as well.
